DESCRIPTION OF OUR WOOD PELLETS

We offer wood pellets made of pine and spruce with the diameter of 6 mm and 8 mm. Our pellets meet the A1 and A2 quality standards according to the international norm ISO 17225-2No glue, additives or contaminants are used in production of our pellets.


Wood pellets are a modern ecological fuel with extreme density, high calorific value, low moisture content, and minimal ash debris. They are made from sawdust compressed into small granules of a cylindrical shape with a diameter of 6–8 mm and length of up to 50 mm. Pellets are made of a renewable energy source, their use is maintenance-free and cheaper than gas or electricity. That’s why they are seen as the most promising fuel.


Wood pellets are used as a substitute for fossil fuels in special stoves and fireplaces with combustion efficiency over 90%. As for comfort and cleanness of operation, they can be compared to electric or gas boilers because of the possibility of automatic feeding and front loading. The use of pellets for commercial and industrial heating (heating plants, power plants) is also on the increase.

GLOBAL PELLET MARKET

Production of wood pellets as an industrial sector is still in its infancy but the global wood pellet market has already become a remarkable biomass success story. In 2014 the production output reached more than 27 Mt, which represented a 700% increase over the last decade. The global pellet market is expected to continue growing at this pace.


In 2014, the European production of wood pellets was 13.5 Mt (50% of the global production) and there were 18.8 Mt of wood pellets consumed (74% of the world pellet consumption). Out of the total of 18.8 Mt, 8.2 Mt was consumed for residential heating, 2.8 Mt for commercial heating and 7.8 Mt for industrial use.


The price of pellets is not dependent on oil and natural gas prices and it is therefore very stable. If there is any increase in the price, it will only reflect the year-on-year inflation growth. The average retail price averages from 270 to 310 EUR/ton, depending on the country.

Production and sustainability

ENVIRONMENTAL STANDARDS

The only ingredient used to produce our wood pellets is sawdust – a by-product of the wood processing industry. Unlike fossil fuels, the supply of which has been steadily decreasing and the price of which has been steadily increasing, the sawdust is a renewable and inexhaustible source of energy, which does not pollute the environment. Wood pellets do not contain any glue, additives, sulfur, halogens or heavy metals.

Burning wood pellets is CO2 neutral because the amount of CO2 released equals only to the amount of CO2 consumed by the trees during their growth in sustainably managed forests. No smoke, smell or harmful chemicals emerge during combustion. Furthermore, the small amount of ash that remains after burning can be used as a rare mineral fertilizer for gardening, as it is high in phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, potassium hydroxide and other important trace elements.

And what about the plastic wraps? Burning them is not eco-friendly but it is possible to recycle them. Please make sure to tell you customers to never throw the plastic wraps in fire. Plastic wraps should be sorted out so that they end up at special centers for secondary processing of plastic waste. MANUFACTURE PROCESS AND STORAGE

The principle of production is based on compression of biomass (sawdust) on molding machines into small granules of a cylindrical shape and high density. During pelletizing, sawdust is pressed under high pressure through a die with small circular holes, which heats it up to over 100 °C. The high temperature results in plastification of lignin already present in wood, which then takes over the function of a binder and protects the pellets from being affected by humidity during storage. Thanks to lignin there is no need to use glue or additives. Once the cooling process is over, the pellets become strong and maintain its cylindrical shape. Pellets are distributed in plastic bags weighing 15 kg and stacked on a pallet and also in large-volume BIG BAGs weighing around 1,000 kg. Pellets are resistant to humidity but they must not get into direct contact with water. Pellets stored in a dry environment retain their properties for many years.
